It had been a normal night for Kokoro. She had just finished bathing and putting her son Yuushin down for the night. She sat down on the couch, watching her husband as he worked on sketches for his latest customer. She smiled gently..it was good to have them back after all of the stuff that went down with the Crimson Order...so why? Why did she feel like there was something else that was weighing on her mind. With a heavy sigh, she took out a book from the chest her Aunt Saori had given her when she was 16. She pulled out a leather-bound book, the front cover wasn't marked and the pages were brittle making her wonder how old the book was. She was about to open it when she realized that it had a lock placed on it. "A lock?" Kokoro asked aloud.

Tasshi looked up from his sketching. "Maybe your aunt didn't mean to put that book in there with the others." he offered with a smile. Kokoro looked back at the book and nodded.

"Possibly, I'll ask her about it tomorrow.." she replied, sighing softly as she set the book on the coffee table.

"Why don't you head on to bed, rosette, you've been tired a lot lately." Tasshi offered.

She blinked and began to shake her head but stopped when she saw the look on his face. She knew she couldn't win this time. With a tired smile she headed to bed, after giving him a goodnight kiss. As soon as her head hit the pillow she drifted off into a deep slumber.

It was late in the evening as the sun set behind the small compound. Everyone were beginning to settle down, parents sending their children to bed while the others began to unwind. Well...most of them. A man with dark hair and dusky skin sat at his kitchen table, his lip curled into a snarl for some odd reason. His woman sat holding their crying daughter. She glared at the man, calling him rather unflattering names as she tried to soothe the child. He simply huffed, threatening to do the same thing again if he didn't quiet her. The woman narrowed her golden eyes at him even more before turning to her daughter, taking a bruised cheek into her hands. "Koko dear, go on to bed...I'll come in to tuck you in later," the woman smiled. The girl nodded, sniffling as she scurried into her room. When their daughter left the woman turned to her husband.

"Ichirou, why do you insist on torturing the poor girl?" she demanded. "So what if she had an opinion in the matter?"

"Children shouldn't talk in adult conversations, Honoka, end of story." He spat again.

Honoka glared at him. "You used to be a kind man, what the hell happened to you?" she demanded before storming out of the room. She could still hear the faint sniffles of her daughter. Sighing she slid open the door to see the girl curled into tight ball. "Honey," she started as she closed the door behind her. She walked up and set a hand on her shoulder, causing the girl to flinch away from her. Honoka sighed as she eased her child into her arms, singing softly to her. "I know you're upset honey but try to calm down, you'll just make yourself sick." She looked down at her daughter, brushing a hand through the thick mass of curls on her head. "Now calm down, it's best that you don't say anything when your father is in a mood, alright?"

"But why--"

"Your father has a dangerous temper and I don't want to see you hurt anymore alright? You're my greatest treasure," the woman named Honoka gave the girl a kiss on the forehead before proceeding to head to the door. She stopped when she heard a loud crash and the sound of a body dropping. With a gasp, she turned and ushered her daughter into a small closet, telling her to be quiet.

As soon as she was in the closet, the door to the room burst open. The girl peeked out through a crack to see the woman fall to the ground after the sounds of a fight die down. She could hear voices ask if that was it before she saw the feet retreat. She was tempted to sneak out of the closet but she wanted to make sure it was safe. When all had been quiet she crawled out of the closet and over to the body before she could smell smoke and hear the boards of the house creak. "Mommy? Mommy?" The girl called as she shook the body, tears starting to form even more. She started to cry, holding onto her mother, her head snapping up to see the house on fire. She heard running footsteps and familiar faces. One of them snatched her up, the other grabbing her mother before they made their way out of the burning house.

CREEAAK...CRASH! A loud and terrified scream came from the girl as a beam came falling down.

Kokoro jolted awake with a loud scream, beads of sweat rolling down her face and neck. Her scream caused Tasshi to come running in before running to her side. She sat holding either side of her head as tears streamed down her face. Tasshi blinked and ran over to her. "Kokoro! What's wrong...was it a nightmare?" he asked as he pulled her into his chest.

What was that...that girl they called her Koko...that couldn't have been me...could it? Her mind was in a frenzy. The child...the child looked like her but she had never seen those people before...had she? She was fairly sure that she hadn't so why...why did she dream about that woman and horrible man?

I have to see Auntie tomorrow....
Sorry for being so inactive lately fellow :iconheartshrinevillage:ers. For a moment I lost inspiration for Kokoro but I recently found some for her ^^; Expect more stories and backstories, along with a new character, from me. ^^
